My STANDARD Valentine's Dessert

So Valentine's Day was quiet, and uneventful (just as we wanted).

With one exception....  the new kid decided to find her voice and begin crowing like a rooster.  CRAZY!

Here she is rolling on the floor as she crowed:
She thought it was Great!!

I wanted to share with you guys my Standard Valentine's Day Dessert.
It's super easy to put together, no cooking and I make it every year.

Here are the ingredients:
Generic version of Twinkies
Strawberries
Hershey's Chocolate Syrup
Cool Whip (I didn't have this)

First, cut two Twinkies in half, diagonally, in different directions.

Take one half of each Twinkie and put together to form a HEART.

Next, I mashed up some Strawberries in a bowl and added a packet of Sweet'N low.
(yes, this IS just like a strawberry shortcake)

And here are the finished Desserts:

The Hubs and Me opted for the Just Strawberries version.

But of course, Gracie wanted the Chocolate version.

It was YUMMY!
Thanks for checking out my Dessert!

To: YOU, From: ME ; )

Today, Don't forget to:

Spend time with the ones you love.
Don't worry about the dishes, the vacuum, the trash or the laundry...
It will be there tomorrow, but your loved ones might not.

Make sure you hug a little tighter today, and smile a little more.

Don't just have one Valentine... have many!

I hope you day is filled with Hearts, Smiles and Giggles.  Just as I hope mine will be!

Baby Leg Warmers

Yep... you read it right
BABY LEG WARMERS

Cause even a baby needs some workout gear!
HA!

I had seen these on a couple of Blogs that I follow, and thought that they were too cute, so of course I had to make a pair.  Baby Addison can NOT be without this stylish accessory.
And for what better reason that the 3rd Iron Craft Challenge - Hearts and Flowers!

So off to Goodwill I went in search of a Valentiney, Hearts or Flowery, Girlie Sweater.

Here's what I found:

My first thought was that I loved the stripes, and I could use the Heart Buttons on the leg warmers... however, Buttons on an Infants clothing item is probably not smart. Don't want anyone getting choked.
So I had to think of something else for the Hearts or Flowers.
Lightbulb... FELT!
It's light and soft and not a choking hazard.  ;  )

Next, I cut off the sleeves:

Leaving a cute, short sleeve sweater...  Hmmm...  possibilities!

So here's where my tutorial goes foggy.
I didn't take any photos during the sewing of Baby Addison's leg warmers.
(I was talking on the phone, sorry)

However, all I did was hem the cut end and make the sleeve thinner by sewing another seam lengthwise about 1 1/2 inches in.

And, here is the reveal:
Baby Addison's new Valentine Heart Leg Warmers!
She was NOT happy that I woke her from her nap to model.
But she got paid well.... with a bottle shortly after!

Do you see Addison's little hand... this is her showcasing the Felt Hearts!
Oh... she's got a future on the runway for sure!

Love those little toes!

Thanks for checking out my Baby Leg Warmer tutorial!

Valentine's Day Gift Frames

A couple weeks ago I posted my 'Week in Pre-Review'.

I included a Valentine's Frame that Gracie was going to be working on to give to the Maw Maw's and Paw Paw's.  Well, she finally finished....

Here is the teaser post that I included in the Week in Pre-Review:
I found all of these great project supplies at Michael's AND they were all on SALE....
Great Day!

So here we go with our project  ; )

 Step One: Paint the Frame:

Step Two:  Add Handprints.
(this was pretty tricky... notice there aren't any pictures of this being done.  Gracie's print went smooth, but Addison's print took a while to get and in the mean time, my hands got covered with paint.)

Step Three:  Add some Decorations.

OOhhhh... Close up!

Step Four:  finished frame.......Drying!
(yes.. on my burlap table runner.  yikes... never fear, no paint was smeared!)

And here is Gracie and Addison's Valentines Day Frame, ready to give to the Maw Maw's and Paw Paw's. And of course, one for ME!

Thanks for checking out our frames!

What I'm working on...St. Patrick's Day Onsie

Potential for an Epic Fail!
I'm usually very positive, BUT realistic.

I've been wanting to try making onsies out of t'shirts since before Little Miss Sunshine came along.
I found a great tutorial from Feather's Flights.  You may remember the post:
That featured:
Cute Huh!!

I did start a t-shirt onsie, but ended up abandoning the effort.
(lots of instructions, and 1 short attention span)

Anyway.....

I was in the wonderful world of Walmart the other day and found this CUTE St. Patty's Day shirt:

Would this not make a CUTE onsie for Addison for St. Patty's Day!!! YEAH!
But, like I said before, this has Potential to become an Epic Fail!  I'm winging this one with no pattern.
I'll keep you posted.

Happy Monday!

Talk to ya'll soon,

Valentine's Day Cards

Let me start off by saying that I HATE buying Valentine's Cards, then buying candy to attach to the card (ie..suckers, sweet tarts or conversation hearts)!!
UGH!

So, for the last couple of years I have been making Gracie's Valentines.
And of course, this year is no different.... Gracie is such a good sport about posing for pictures, she secretly LOVES not having the old 'run of the mill' Valentine's Cards.  And with the new Baby, Gracie got to help in the making of Addison's Valentine's.

The 'very professional' Photo Shoots:

Gracie goes first, of course!
 She's such a Ham!

Next, it's Addison's turn:
She was not too happy with the process...

Anyway, after some photo editing, via FotoFlexer, here are the finished projects:

Gracie's Card will include a Mustache... for hours of entertainment!

Sorry, Addison's card will come with Nothing!  No Candy for the little ones!

Hope you enjoyed our Valentine's Day Cards.

Talk to ya'll soon,

Iron Craft Challenge #2 Orange - Reveal

It's time... to REVEAL!!!

The 2nd Iron Craft Challenge was Orange.
I didn't post a teaser last week, because I just couldn't think of anything crafty that would be Orange = (
I guess because we are in full on Valentine's mode at our house...
it's Pink and Red everywhere.

After a trip to Hobby Lobby to look for Orange, I finally found it:
WOW!!  RIGHT!!!
I LOVE Burlap!  So what better choice than Burnt Orange Burlap!

I've been wanting to make another wreath out of Burlap, so I thought that this would give me the Perfect Opportunity!

So let's get to it!
I used approx 2 yards of Fabric, and cut 4.5 x 4.5 squares.

I folded the square in half (diagonally).

 Then, folded in half, again.

I then folded up the little pointed end slightly and poked one leg of a U pin through it.

I was running a little short on U pins, so I actually used two Burlap squares on 1 U pin.  Just stuck 1 folded square on each leg of the pin.

Then I stuck the pin into my Straw Wreath.

Then I repeated the same step and to make a row of three.  One pin in the center, one pin towards the center of the wreath and one pin towards the outside of the wreath.  Here is one completed row.

Then I kept working until I had finished the entire wreath.

OK.... there's one little secret.....
I ran out of Burlap.
I probably needed another 1/8 of a yard.
Look REAL close to the bottom..... look a little flat?
YES.  About 4-5 pins are missing.  HA!

Oh yeah.. here's what Addison worked on while I was covered in Burlap scraps:

A good nap ; )

For the 'N', I had picked up one of those cheapie letters while I was at Hobby Lobby and covered it with a sheet of moss.  I think I found the Moss at the $ Store.

Here's a close up at my 'N':

And that is my Orange Burlap Wreath!!

I hope you enjoyed the tutorial....  have a wonderful Tuesday!
